Founded by Mr. Chin Sophonpanich, Bangkok Insurance Public Company
Limited (BKI) has officially engaged in non-life insurance business since
1947. It was incorporated as a limited company on 15 April 1947 under the
name of Asia Insurance Company Limited with an initial registered capital of
Baht 5 million and an office situated on Anuwongse Road, Samphanthawong
District. (During the first era of operations, the Company was originally
established as a small non-life insurance division of Asia Insurance Company
Limited. It was granted its first license to conduct non-life insurance
business on 1 January 1947.)
Subsequently in 1964, Asia Insurance Company Limited was renamed to Bangkok
Insurance Company Limited. The Company continuously expanded its business
and increased its registered capital. In 1978, the Company became listed on
the Stock Exchange of Thailand and, in 1993, was converted to a public
limited company under the name of Bangkok Insurance Public Company Limited,
and has continued to operate with strength and stability ever since.
In 2023, Bangkok Insurance restructured its organization and established BKI
Holdings Public Company Limited (BKIH) on 11 September 2023 to expand
business opportunities in insurance and other diversified, high-potential
businesses.
Bangkok Insurance was delisted from the Stock Exchange of Thailand on 17 June
2024, while BKI Holdings was listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand on the
same day under the ticker symbol “BKIH”
Currently, Bangkok Insurance has a registered capital of Baht 1,064.7 million. The Company provides a full range of
non-life insurance services based on the management principles of efficiency, international growth, and maximizing
customer satisfaction. The Company has branches and offices across all regions of Thailand.

On 26 April 2004, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej graciously bestowed the
Garuda emblem to the Company as a company under the royal patronage of His
Majesty the King. It has been one of the most prestigious honors for the
Company, its executives, and its employees.
The aforementioned Garuda emblem is considered a certificate to ensure that the
Company operates business with honesty, integrity, morality, ethics, and a solid
foundation and becomes one of the most trusted insurers for the general public.
The emblem helps motivate the Company to conduct business to achieve prosperity
and stability in the years to come.

The Company was assigned the financial strength rating of A- (Stable) by Standard
& Poors or S&P, one of the world’s leading credit rating agencies, on 26
November 2025. Such a rating reflected the Company’s position as a leader in the
non-life insurance industry of Thailand with strong competitiveness, good
operating results, solid financial position, adequate capital funds,
satisfactory capital management capability, and sound management system.
